With all the holiday activities and vacation time, how excited are you to go back to work on Monday? Why did you just respond the way you did? Here are three different ways I see that playing out:
1) you are excited about going to work (good for you, that’s excellent)
2) you dread going to work and the moment you walk in the building door, you are looking at the clock, wondering how many hours are left. (you might want to seriously consider finding a job you like)
3) you tolerate the job. It’s not that you dislike the work or can’t stand it, but you recognize you have passions elsewhere. (maybe you just need to reframe your situation and get a new perspective. Maybe you need to understand that your job pays for you to do your hobby or your ministry/volunteering efforts?)
With this post in mind, I appreciate something Steve Jobs said:
The only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work and the only way is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking . Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.”
So, again, how excited (and grateful) are you for your job: 1-10 ?
What are your next steps in light of how you answered this last question?
