Poetry: Tall Tales

For those who are used to receiving my typical posts, you will find something different in this poetry post. This is a poem that is a part of a Poetry collection that comes from a time of my my searching days

Tall Tales

The head is moved aside,

the ear beams in on sounds,

overhearing a conversation

of tall tales that go around.

Through the years we go,

knowledge driven in our heads,

we learn how people function,

and how to get ahead.

More playing of the game,

more characters added in,

moving farther from the truth,

monopolizing sin.

It’s like rumors being spread,

the truth buried beneath a haze,

to keep position in the spotlight,

you find that lying pays.

And like a snowball  that is pushed

down a snowy hill, so steep,

the snowball keeps on growing

’til its size it cannot keep.

If that snow was only powder

with no sweat, so we’d be free,

we’d come down from the top

through powder we would ski.
