Poetry: A Try at Friendship

Standard

For those who are used to receiving my typical posts, you will find something different in this poetry post. This is a poem that is a part of a Poetry collection that comes from a time of my searching days.

A Try at Friendshp

An incident occurred

a few minutes ago,

I played guitar on my porch

for a rabbit-I gave a show.

She was nervous as could be

these messages she did send,

I was playing her a tune

I was hoping she’d be my friend.

I went to find some bread

then I threw it in the grass,

hoping all her tensions

would quickly come to pass.

She sad and watched me play

she saw I was sincere,

she quickly came to realize,

I was someone not to fear.

She looked off in the distance

at the bread that I had thrown,

she put her trust in me

as our friendship now had grown.

She seemed to like the bread

as she had followed the path to me,

a calmness settled through her

with peace and harmony.

Suddenly- the back door opened

the peace was completely shattered,

a friend came through the door

as the rabbit shook and staggered.

The rabbit ran quickly

in seconds, she was gone,

she moved so fast, she blurred

as she streaked across my lawn.

The gentleness in our souls

attracted me to her,

our truce of faithful trust

someone did disturb.

Now I was left alone

feeling sorrow in the wind,

my mind forgot the music,

the lyrics I couldn’t begin.
