For many people, they have a desire to be at the top of their organization. They long to be the man in charge. How about you —is that your desire also, to be the one in charge?
Well, when it comes to being at the top, it doesn’t get much higher than being in the presence of God- right ? We can learn some helpful lessons from looking at two different occasions where personalities were removed from the presence of God.
- first of all is Lucifer, who we know as Satan. This created angel was in the presence of God until P-R-I-D-E was found in his heart (Isaiah 14:12-16, Ezekiel 28:11-19 and then he was removed. (Lucifer desired to be an equal with God Almighty, to be the one in charge—-he was removed for that evil motivation of exalting himself)
- the second example is Jesus Christ, a member of the holy, Trinity. As God, Himself, Jesus enjoyed perfect community with the Father but was willing to leave the presence of God to go on mission to give His very life as a sacrifice to pay the punishment for mankind’s sins. (Jesus was willing to be a servant and exercise humility- Philippians 2:5-11)
So, what is the condition of your heart as you consider being at the top? Do you tend to have more of a spirit of pride or humility ? Be wary of the consequences that come from your decisions.
