“The story being told in ‘Star Wars’ is a classic one. Every few hundred years, the story is retold because we have a tendency to do the same things over and over again. Power corrupts, and when you’re in charge, you start doing things that you think are right, but they’re actually not.”
I appreciate this quote because I think for leaders there’s a precious truth included in it. Its the insight that as a person becomes more successful and influential, pride is never far away. In that attitude where a person can begin to think more of themselves than they should, they can start to develop blind spots.
They can begin to get close-minded to others’ ideas because they reason that if they didn’t think of it, than surely it can’t be that good.
Leaders, for the sake of your organizations, be wary of your own blind spots (and the dark side).
and “may the force be with you”.
