What to do and what to stop doing
1) stop delaying and determine to get (and stay) phsyically healthy
2) live more on your feet–get up, pace, walk places, jog, use a standup desk
3) get accountable
4) cut out the sugar–cut out all the refined carbohydrates you can…eat for the effect it will have later. Our high-carb, highly processed diets are making us sluggish in the short run and fat and sick in the long run.

Some great advice to fathers

Several years ago, a friend of mine passed on some great fatherly advice to me that I have tried to follow.

Generally speaking, he told me, “whenever your child asks you to something with them, do it !”

Kids long to have a relationship with their fathers and when they take a risk to ask you to give up your plans to spend time with them that is huge for them. Please don’t convey anything is more important than they are (especially work)!

Fathers, time goes by way too fast. You can avoid regrets that will certainly come if you make it a priority to build a relationship with your kids (and that takes time)!

“You want me to write a check to_____—c’mon man!”

A little change of strategy can go a long way in helping you reach your goals.

Is there one goal that you really want to achieve, but are having troubles enduring through all the discipline and hard work to accomplish it?

Next question: if you thought about it- is there an organization you just despise?

Okay, let’s put the two questions together now.

What I would encourage you to do is to write a check right now for $10, or $20, or whatever amount you want to this organization you just can’t stand.

Next, I would like to have you put that check in a very visible spot. So, to help motivate you to get through those times where you want to give up on meeting your goals because its getting too tough, I want you to be able to see that check and realize that if you don’t do what you are supposed to be doing to meet your goals, you will need to send that organization your money. Ouch ! Anything, but that, right!

Sometimes, it takes a bit of creative thinking to help motivate me. I hope that this idea is helpful for you.
