Think of a hard time you’ve gone through. Maybe it was during a stressful time at work. Maybe it was the panic of realizing how far in debt you are. Maybe it was when you went through a very difficult relationship struggle with a loved one.
Whatever the specific situation, we’ve all been there. As you think about those difficult times, think how comforted and encouraged you were when you knew a friend was there who was willing to pray for you, or spend the time to talk with you.
In the Bible ( 1timothy 2:1-2) (nasb), it is written:
First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.
I can’t think of a time when our government and church leaders need more prayer support and encouragement than today.
So, whether, you are a fan of our current president, congress, or your present church leadership, each of us has a responsibility as Christ followers to pray for them.
I don’t know about you, but I am convicted by this command from Scripture—how about you? Are you doing your part?
