If you’ve ever been involved on a leadership team, you’ll know one of the biggest difficulties occurs when an individual keeps quiet and does not participate in the group interaction.
Most likely there will be differing opinions in the group, but the person that keeps silent, whether its because of something emotional (like a forgiveness, or bitterness issue), or just not having the courage to speak up, hurts the group.
This is unfortunate because their thoughts could be valuable in preventing the group from moving forward with some plans that could have dire consequences.
With this all in mind and the challenge that leading a team is, I love this quote from Suzanne Milchling: ” It is the question not asked that gets me in trouble”.
Be attentive to the quiet ones in your group and look for ways to include them.
